The best time to fly. Clear skies, cool mornings and great visibility.
Burning (smoky) season
About February to April
Farm and forest fires fill the valley with haze. Visibility can drop sharply and air quality is often poor, usually worst in March.
Hot season
About April to May
Very hot by the middle of the day. Fly early or late, and watch out for afternoon thermals and storms.
Rainy season
About June to October
Green and beautiful, with flyable mornings between the showers. Afternoon storms are common.

Cool, calm air and soft light over the fields and mountains.
Late afternoon
About 4:00 to 6:00 pm
The heat fades, the air settles, and the sunsets are spectacular.
Middle of the day
Usually no flying
Heat makes the air bumpy and reduces aircraft performance, so local gyro flights avoid it.
